Amazing bundle

I found it incredibly helpful in preparing for the exam. The materials were well-organized and easy to follow. I especially appreciated the clear explanations, example sentences, and practice exercises that reinforced each topic. The vocabulary and kanji lists were also very thorough.

Whether you're just starting your Japanese learning journey or need a structured review for the N5 level, I highly recommend this bundle. It really helped boost my confidence and understanding of the basics.

Thank you! That's awesome. I'm glad it helped. :)

Best reader ever!

I won't tell you how many languages I've studied from high school and university on into old age, but I will say these are among the best readers I've seen in any language. They convey grammar concepts and vocabulary while being amusing to read.

All they need is a section in the back where one could look up stroke order diagrams for the Kanji 🥲

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the silliness. We need to get back to the stories. After all, the earth needs saving again!

Grammar

The jlpt grammar bundle explains the nuances of Japanese in far greater clarity than language apps.great stuff, worth every penny

Thank you! Glad it helped. We really appreciate the kind words :)

The graphic of the word "勇" does not belong to Japan

The graphic of the word "勇" does not belong to Japan,It has nothing to do with Japanese culture, this is the style of the Qing Dynasty

勇 means 'courage' in both Japanese and Chinese. Kanji were imported from China into Japan over many centuries, and in many cases, Japanese and Chinese share the same character both in meaning and appearance. You can see how 勇 is used across various languages here:
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E5%8B%87

But to say 'it doesn’t belong to Japan' is like saying 科学 (or 科學 in traditional Chinese, meaning 'science') doesn’t belong to Chinese—just because it was originally a 和製漢語 (わせいかんご), or 'Japanese-made Sino-compound.' In other words, 科学 is widely used in Chinese today, but it was coined by the Japanese during the Meiji period. The Japanese imported Chinese characters, created a new compound word, and later that word was reimported into Chinese. This pattern holds true for many scientific and philosophical terms that were born in Japan and then adopted by other East Asian languages.

Languages constantly evolve and borrow from one another. Take カタカナ英語 (English loanwords written in katakana), for example. Just because テレビ originally came from 'television' doesn’t mean テレビ isn’t a real Japanese word. :)

shikishi great paper

Great tshirt. My only comment is that I would like the hiragana to be a little smaller.

Just as described and seen in the pictures!

Beri- Beri- Shoshinsha for Absolute Beginners of Japanese Review

Excellent learning material for the money, and plenty in abundance as well. Thank you Clay & Yumi for making such educational material available.

Great books!

I'm really enjoying the way the Japanese language has been explained in each of these books. Easy to understand and remember! Very happy.

That's great! I'm very glad to hear that you're enjoying our JLPT N5 Bundle and finding it easy to understand and remember. If you have any questions, please let me know. Happy studying!

Plenty of content and assistance!

I had already some basic knowledge in Japanese (because I was always into japanese content) and I have improved a lot thanks to Beri- Beri- Shoshinsha!
I purchased this bundle a month ago but I thought I'd post my review earlier that I anticipated~
I'm half into the 100grammar (I have yet to check the rest of the books in this bundle) and I practice some kanji (from the Kanji100) in my free time. This language is pure art and I'm very well into arts and crafts so as a beginner they feel like a piece of cake to me! I am also greek and I noticed japanese have few common things with greek; we pronounce words exactly as we see them, we just replace the suffix of words to direct time and to adress people (most of the times) and we don't need either a plethora of articles or other particles to produce a full meaning of a phrase/sentence - which helps me a lot in undestarding!
All in all, in combination with the knowledge I already had and Beri Beri Shoshinsha, I can already read and undestand basic japanese in just a month~!

Lastly I'd like to thank Clay & Yumi for their assistance and the love they poured into makind these books~!

And if any potential buyers are reading my review, I'd like to let you know that these books provide a thorough explanation and a large variety of examples to assist into learning the correct pronunciations (with addional sound files for everything)!

Thank you so much! You are awesome. :) I'm glad to hear you are excited about Japanese, and finding connections with things you already know (Greek) is a great way to make progress with Japanese. I think that is how our brains work--connections. So, keep at it and let me know if you have any questions as you go through the material.

Perfect follow up

Thank you

Sorry for the trouble! The email would have been sent immediately after you ordered, but sometimes it gets caught by the spam filter. I will email you the download link right now.

Also, we are working on a new download link delivery system which will give you the link immediately on the page after ordering in addition to going out by email (and it will use a more reliable email server to hopefully skip the spam folders!). I'll email you in just a moment with your link.

Learn Japanese with History is such fun

Another great set of readers. I've enjoyed them no end.

Yeah, and learned a lot, too.

My only gripes? I can't get the Anki Decks to work with my copy of Anki. Probably the unzipped files are in the wrong folder. I'll work on it some more.

Also, I wish you had an interactive stroke order tutorial along with the Kanji list. Maybe in the next revision?

FYI I use your material on my Kindle Fire, which is of course an Android tablet. Works a charm, except for the Anki decks.

Thank you! Make sure you use the official Anki app. There are knock offs but they don't work well with third-party decks like ours. Here is their site: https://apps.ankiweb.net/

If you have that, please email me (https://www.thejapanshop.com/pages/contact-us) and we'll figure it out!

Scam

I didn't even receive it and no one is replying my mails or anything. This is a scam

Sorry for the trouble. I definitely want to provide you with the best service possible!

I checked and didn't find any emails from you, but it may have fallen into my spam folder. I just sent you an email with the download link and if you have any other issues, please don't hesitate to reach out.

eBook Series Japanese Phrases

Alrighty - I got this eBook series for one main reason and that is to use as a tool to improve my speech cadence and intonation. I’m using the audio primarily to shadow the sentences. The approach i use is to import the audio of each sentence into a program where I can create an extended audio file that has all 30 sentences doubled back to back. Each book comes out about 10 minutes in length. The program I use allows me to slow down the audio if I want and I can record myself speaking with the recordings to check my intonation. It’s been very useful. Also, the .pdf file for the book allowed me to quickly copy out the text of the sentences and create a sentence list to read along with the audio. Since I’m trying to wean myself off of looking at furigana this has been helpful for kanji recognition. Very happy with this series.

That's great! If you don't mind me asking, what program are you using? That sounds like a great idea.

This is the kind of thing I have been searching for!

I have loved all the Japan Shop books. The grammar books give clear concise explanations and you can easily access the sounds. Plus the Yonde Miyo series are great to read and listen to.

Yeah! I'm glad you like it. We try to keep the Yonde Miyo~ books fun. :)

You forget you are learning!

I love the stories, they make you forget you are learning because you are reading a nice interesting story. Difficulty is n4 worthy is my opinion. Some stories stil require looking at the explanation a lot, but this is easy! It is right below. I am a big fan.

Thanks! N4 is about where we are shooting for with these stories--except for names and some historical concepts. Those can be... hard, but important eventually. Thanks for the review! We really appreciate it.

Extreme happy

I am amazed with this bundle and a few bundles I bought recently.
I can read the book either in pfd format of epub format in my iPad.
I can listen to the sound track while reading the material. Some books in Kindle can have the text-to-speech feature that texts are highlighted while listening. It is a good feature for new learning like me. I am sure that other reader like that as well. I hope we can have text-to-speech feature with your product.

Thank you for your positive review! We are glad to hear that you are enjoying our JLPT N5 Bundle and that it is helping you with your Japanese learning. We are constantly striving to improve our products and we appreciate your suggestion for a text-to-speech feature. We will definitely take it into consideration for future updates. Happy studying!
