I finished Frank to Obaasan yesterday. It was magical, especially the ending--I always did wonder what happened to a certain class of character when they grew up and got old.

All the books I've looked at so far have been great for review and further learning. The only improvement I could suggest would be to add workbooks to the readers, or maybe exercises in the books themselves.

This is so much to work on and everything is wonderfully done and explained. Great buy

I haven't delved too far into this bundle yet, but the books are really well done. Every sentence is walked through so you get an understanding of how sentence structure works as well as learning words etc. It's good fun to learn about a subject while learning Japanese! I genuinely feel a sense of achievement, and like i have actually learned something when i finish a section. The audio is very helpful, to check I'm reading with the right pronunciation, though can be a little awkward on my phone as I have to jump between audio and books, but that's a phone issue, nothing to do with the bundle. Well worth the money.

I was able to send an email and rather than sending a quick answer I got a full page of information. Everything was very useful! When using this website and it's resources it will be worth every penny!

Got this for my daughter to help her with her Japanese class at school.

The actual content is good, but it is very bland and not as engaging as I would like. Very boring presentation and visuals make it seem more like a chore... like having to read a long drawn out contract. Every time I try to use their books I get easily distracted and can't continue. I really wish it was more engaging and fun.

I purchased the Learn Japanese with History because of my studies (personal) on Japanese Culture and got more than I expected and definitely worth the price. You get more bang for your buck.,

I haven't had the time to look it over. I purchased it in advance for when I had time to peruse it. I have 4500 books on Japanese in my library.

I bought both the Beri Beri Shoushinsha and Japanese Reader Collection bundles and have slowly been working through the content at my own pace. Everything is laid out in a very straightforward, easy to understand format and the stories are short, fun and practical for learning grammar basics and everyday words. I also love the various print-friendly worksheets for practicing writing, including fun things like crosswords. Thank you Clay and Yumi for making such fantastic learning resources available!

Perfect for beginners

These books are a lot more then you think. The book is jam packed with great information, basically starts off with dialogs of the topic. I love it because it has furigana over the kanji. It then thoroughly goes over the explanation of the dialog and explains relevant kanji that is used in the sentences. There's QR codes to get audio playback if you want to practice your hearing comprehension, in two speeds, slower and normal speeds, which is great. The kanji to me isn't trivial and is perfect for what i was looking for which is more kanji reading practice. Anyways, highly recommended if you're at the level to start reading more kanji.

Got this book because I don't speak as much Japanese as I should while studying. I noticed that my ability to speak fluently had diminished even though my comprehension was fairly high. This has been a great way to increase my speed of understanding spoken Japanese and raise my skill level when speaking. I really enjoy this book.

Fight boredom! This is the most interesting set of bigraphies . This has a completely new spin on how they are presented.
I am not a beginner but not always able to handle intermediate. This takes the pain out of trying to read complicated pieces.You get prepped up from the vocabulary and the beginners section.
By the time you get to the intermediate section suddenly it’s getting easier. Slow and fast sound tracks wrap it up nicely.
Anyway I have to go now as I’m hooked on reading this stuff

Very good learning aid. Definitely helps solidify what I’m learning from other methods.

I really love the picture-vocabulary page, and the integrated kanji lessons (Tobira Gateway to Advanced [ie, Tobira intermediate] has a completely separate book, which is ok, considering the amount of kanji to be learned). The grammar lessons are very complete with many explanations and examples to give a more thorough understanding than what Genki gives. There's a bit of a gap between Genki 2 and Tobira intermediate, and while I haven't finished going through tobira beginning 2, I believe that this gap is addressed.
There's a lot of mini lessons interspersed, and a lot of reading opportunities.

I love Beri Beri Shoshinsha! One gets so much material; perfect for beginners like me. The variety of materials cover all aspects of learning
(writing systems, reading, culture, etc.,) and even includes an Anki deck. I'm so glad to have discovered The Japan Shop. As I progress, I know where I will be getting the resources I will need and want.

I just purchased the Beri Beri Shoushinsha bundle, which contains issues #1 and #19. I enjoyed them enough that I decided to buy all 50 issues while they were on sale.

What I like about this magazine is that it teaches aspects of the Japanese language, but it also gives tidbits of Japanese culture and history. The various hints are very useful to a beginner. By itself, it won't teach you Japanese, but it's a very pleasant enhancement to whatever learning approach you're taking.

I bought the Samurai Cat and one each of three other cat t-shirts to give away as Christmas presents. They were a big hit. Very popular! My best holiday purchase decision!
