SIMPLICITY. IT STARTED WITH SIMPLE IDEA AND DESIGN
We also offer t-shirts with different simple designs about Japanese
I am a high school Japanese teacher. I will be using this material to help prepare some of my senior students for JLPT5. I will also use it as extension material for some my junior students
I enjoy using the stories. I am a beginner and it seems I tend to remember stuff from the stories faster than from a textbook.
Very nicely produced, with good explanations of word use and grammar, and really nice voices on the audio tracks.
I really like the concept of the book for learning japanese language. Unfortunately, it does not contain any picture in it. Only word. Well, I prefer to read a story with some picture in it. Because it is not novel. Most likely a japanese bedtime story. However, i pretty much like it though and I can increase my japanese language skill. You got it great for the main aim of the book.
But, This is only my feeling... To go through the story it's a little bit boring. Maybe add picture like other bedtime story book may be much more better. Please consider... Thank you very much.
These books are ideal for learning. I was a bit apprehensive but they are great. Really helped my reading and understanding Japanese.
This is a great word list, and the mp3s are really nice. The sentences are N4 level too, which makes it a great studying resource. I do wish is that they had the sentences directly under the word. But I will listen to the mp3 while scrolling through the list, then again when going through the sentences. It would also be nice if after the word is spoken in Japanese, the word would be spoken in English too, so that if I can't have the word list in front of me, like when I'm driving, I'll know what it means.
Top quality audio and text make all these a pleasure to use. Nice, clear voice and good explanations of the written parts.
An excellent way to improve your comprehension and speech.
Excellent all round. Audio recordings are top technical quality in a very clear voice which is a pleasure to listen to. Ebooks are easy to read in all formats with each story/part written in kanji with furigana, romaji, and English, with clear explanations of the words and grammar. Sensible prices make these really useful.
Excellent practice for reading, writing, listening and speaking.
This bundle is so comprehensive yet the lessons are broken up in a really effective way for those who struggle to absorb too much at once so the information is a lot easier to retain. Amazing
Living in the MidWest of the US, after one year of Japanese studies at community college, I have had little help moving forward with the language. So I was thrilled to discover what The Japanese Shop is doing, using sweet traditional stories to introduce vocabulary, grammar and kanji all in the context of a story. The MP3 files are icing on the cake, since they give the correct pronunciation and fluent tempo of the story. So far, I have only used the slow version of the mp3 files, which are careful to pause after each sentence. That feature really helped me find my place in the first few times. Finally, it is great to move onto to the proper Japanese text( without furigana or glossary) and find myself remembering the sophisticated kanji.
I did notice that, with the built-in speaker of an old personal computer, I had trouble hearing the story clearly without text in front of me....but, using the higher quality speaker on my newer IPad, the audio file was easy to understand.
I have scrolled through the books and I am just impressed by the content, which is created with care and love. You learn so many vocabularies and you can improve your listening skills.
It is definitely worth the price! Thank you so much
Thi set of books has been created with care and contains all you need to learnd Japanese in a funny way. Audio also helps a lot to improve listening and pronounciation. No doubt this is a 5 starts content at a very good price.
El material es muy completo, con varias versiones de cada documento para poder leerlos en todos los dispositivos. Recomendable.
"Japanese Grammar 100" is not a comprehensive textbook; nor is it intended to be one. But once you have learned the Japanese "alphabet" (Hiragana and Katakana) and some basic vocabulary, this book can serve as an excellent introduction to sentence structure, verb forms, possessives, question words, pronouns, etc. Each lesson is brief, clear, and easy to understand. The book also provides references to online practice for the beginner - very useful.
Very versatile and full of options to access these resources, which are very detailed, practical and lets you work at your own pace
This subscription is a good value of money and content. I would recomend it to anyone who is commited to his studies of Japanese. The Makoto eZine is a good resource for everyone, especially the beginners and the intermediates (even if I consider myself being still somewhere in between those two levels). I appreciate the content which is fun but still you can learn a lot, sometimes I believe even more than from textbooks. You get cultural contents along with grammatical notes plus you have the opportunity to practice reading and learn new vocabulary. I'm highly positive and happy with my purchase even if I'm only with the second issue of my subscription I'm already feeling that these purchase was worth it and I really hope that Makoto eZine will continue to help us for long time. Thank you a lot for this incredible content.
The Makoto eZine is a good resource for someone like me who is not a complete beginner but still feels not ready to be intermediate. The jokes and puns of this issue are really helpful in order to acquire more vocabulary and understand the Japanese Humour. I would recommend this eZine to everyone that is in between beginner and intermediate level because it offers readings of the right level which are difficult to find both online and in stores. I purchased both a single issue and then I immediatly subscribed to the annual subscription.
Excellent work! I would say that these readers are best for people who have at least an N4 level of Japanese. I'm currently working on N3 and find them to be a perfect addition to my study resources. These are much cheaper than any other Japanese readers outside, and it's so thoughtful of them to have the accompanying mp3 in both slow and regular speed. As promised, they even emailed me to update when a new story was uploaded so that I could download it for free. All in all, no regrets for this purchase. Great work, guys :)
I bought the download only version at a sale price which is great. I find this very helpful as it comes with sample sentences, and the MP3 files make it easy to listen to whenever I want.
I have been wanting to buy some Japanese readers for a while but the only ones I ever found were so expensive for only a few stories. At the time of writing, you get 20 stories. The books don't just give you the raw story but also goes over the sentences and has a glossary with the words and a few grammar points.
This is a good and cheap way to do extensive reading as well as Tadoku.
These books are for people who are not absolute beginners, know a bit of grammar as well as Hiragana and Katakana.
The only flaw I can see in the books is that it relies heavily on Romaji instead of Hiragana and Katakana. I wish that they had a second version of the books that had no Romaji because it is a harmful crutch to learning to read.
I like how this shirt is so cute and the print, visible. The material is also nice. The only other comment I have is that the sizing runs on the small side. The next time, I will order the next size up.
Although I have not used it yet, it seems to be durable, seals tightly and pretty colors. Shipping was quite fast as well and arrived in good condition. I will have more to share later. Thank you!
It is very fun to learn japanese words in context, it is an amazing way to improve my understanding of that language I love so much, thank you very much for this product
I have an intermediate Japanese level (know every hiragana, katakana and few hundred Kanji) and I needed some new material to reach a new stage.
To me, these books are just perfect.
The way everything is broken down is perfect to me, it really really makes sense and I think it's one of the best ways to actually learn Japanese. It's really well-made and easy to follow.
I think that these materials are the go-to for any beginner to intermediate Japanese learners.
Very good books for Jlpt N5. The grammar books is very useful. Good easy explanations and lots of examples. The kanji book is very practical and has space where to practice your skills. Very good price so definitely recommended!
Super fast shipping, great products, very responsive, super knowledgeable A+++
I initially bought the Complete Japanese Reader Collection from The Japan Shop and the Hiragana: Basics of Japanese booklet has been the most useful tool in learning Hiragana that I've ever found. I really struggle to learn Japanese writing and no book or app I've found has ever really helped me - until I started using this booklet. This book has given me the confidence that I might actually be able to learn to read Japanese. The addition of audio to help with learning is just amazing.
I'm so confident in Clay and Yumi's products that I've bought the Japanese Dialogues Value Bundle to continue my journey in learning Japanese. The care and effort they've put into their products is clear and I would recommend their books to anyone wanting to learn Japanese.
If you are fine with non-hard copy versions of the books, this is perfect.
Only wish they had a set for JLPT N4 and above as well.
Hi, actually I just started to use it. By now I can only say it is a good practice for me from a “reading” point of view, thanks a lot for your help. It is not easy to find this kind of material for starting with japanese language.
This is great! You get the stories, translations, extra explanations of context, plus audio with both fast and slow pronunciation. I have been interested in Japanese for some time, and this has gotten me motivated to learn more than ever. You only need to have learned the hiragana syllabary more or less to get started. Plus, it's a lot more interesting to read these stories than only learning from textbooks or apps.
I have a BA in Japanese but have forgotten so much over the years. I've been wanting to get back into re-learning the language and ran across The Japan Shop.
I love the way everything is broken down and explained in everyday plain English. Which makes it much easier for me to review what I already knew (and have forgotten!). Clay and Yumi have done an amazing job putting all this together. I wish The Japan Shop had existed during my college days. I would have learned so much more!
From my point of view this one is way more begginer friendly than kids books since even they are wholly in hiragana (almost) those books uses words you won't see in daily life or in your studying textbooks, despite having done minna no nihongo 1 and 2 and anki decks for a long time now, I totally found it to be super useful.
A series like this way, gradually increasing difficulty, is what I initially looked for, so glad you did.
I'd definitely recommend this set to people who wants to start reading normal Japanese and not words like "little prince" or using おる.
