i own all the volumes of this series from level 1 through level 4, and i think they are really great.

i took japanese in college 20+ years ago, and last year i decided i want to brush up on my reading skills. starting with level 1 of this series and working my way up, i have been able to not only regain the reading skill i had in college, i think i've actually exceeded it at this point.

every kanji in each book has furigana, which i think is really helpful at my level of expertise.

the one thing lacking from these volumes is a vocab list or dictionary, but i make up for that by using the WWJDIC or the Kotoba app for the iphone/ipod (which is based on the WWJDIC).

every volume has a cd of the stories being read by native speakers, and as the level gets higher, the speakers speak more quickly and conversationally, so listening comprehension can grow as reading skills grow.
